Borrego Springs - Kesling's Kitchen

Signs have appeared along Palm Canyon Drive that are upsetting local businesses. The eagerly awaited, but yet to be opened, Kesling's Kitchen Restaurant at the Borrego Art Institute (BAI) on The Circle, has posted several signs saying,"Kesling's Kitchen Parking Only" along Palm Canyon's south side, just across from Carlee's Bar and Grill and adjacent to Village Liquors and Market.

BAI has constructed a large parking area behind the gallery/restaurant, where the ArtFarm is being developed. Parking along Palm Canyon Drive has here-to-for been open and available for any patrons of BAI, Village, Carlee's, Jilberto's Taco Shop, the pharmacy and workers in the health foundation's administrative counting house.

Though the street parking has been monopolized by the medical employees and has busy mornings with their fleet of pharmaceutical transport vehicles, the parking has never been designated as belonging to a particular shop.

The new signs posted have four spots stating 'Kesling's Kitchen 20 Minute Parking,' and six spots labeled 'Kesling's Kitchen 2 Hour Parking.' No civil code is attributed to these new conditions, therefore rendering the consequences of parking unenforceable. Surrounding businesses have already asked the Borrego Sun to look into the justification for these postings. The 'No Parking' and 'Handicapped' signs between the Village and the BAI are completely appropriate and are slowly being adhered to by customers.

Until the situation is ironed out, plenty of parking exists behind the strip of shops housing the Village Market, Jilberto's and the medical facilities.

Letters to the editor are being accepted on this and all other concerns and satisfactions about town.
