Mar. 7, after a highly successful play offering of Funny You Don't Look Like a Grandma, one in which a rare packed matinee occurred on Sunday, The Borrego Springs Performing Arts Center presented their annual wine tasting fundraising event at The Palms at Indian Head on Hoberg Rd.

Attendees were treated to a variety of house wines in the red and white categories as well as a plethora of hors d'oeuvres from seafood pockets to southwestern spring rolls, served by BSPAC Board notables such as Sue Salt, Jinny Perrin, Linda Roller, and husband Jim, and Beth Hart.

Entertainment was provided by Dave Otis, an old friend of the theater and sometimes music director of variety and Christmas shows, on piano and Haddon Salt on violin.

In addition to a raffle of gift certificates and prizes donated by; The Palm Canyon Resort, The Bighorn Bar and Grill, The Borrego Springs Resort, La Casa del Zorro, The Springs at Borrego, Borrego Outfitters and California Excursions as well as many other merchants around town, an auction was held for prizes such as a ride around town in Martha Deichler's vintage VW dune buggy, a ride in a Stearman biplane, a dinner with Patrick Meehan, the publisher of the Borrego Sun, golf and dining packages at La Casa del Zorro, The Springs at Borrego, De Anza Country Club and Rams Hill as well as a signed Armand Vallee lithograph.
