The County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will be hosting a second community meeting for Borrego residents to discuss the development of a new 16-acre park. The event is scheduled to take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Borrego Springs Performing Arts Center, located in the Center Plaza.

The parcel of land considered for the park is situated at the corner of Country Club and Sunset Roads. The idea to develop a park at that location was presented at a project kick-off meeting held this past April.

A public survey to collect feedback from area residents and business owners on proposed uses for the park and desired amenities was conducted from June 4 to July 17, 2015.

DPR reviewed the survey responses and prioritized park amenities based on environmental factors, available budget and resources. This information, along with two unique design concepts, will be presented at the meeting. Attendees will also be given an opportunity to comment on the proposed designs.

Following the meeting, DPR will post an event summary on the DPR website, http://www.sdparks.org. Residents who cannot attend the meeting will be invited to review this summary and share feedback by Oct. 31.

This event is co-sponsored by DPR and the Borrego Springs Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Bureau.
