Seven Borrego Springs High School seniors will compete for the crown of Miss Borrego 2015-2016. The pageant will take place on Oct. 23, at 7:00 p.m. in the school's gym, during Borrego Days, and will have Karina Mendoza, Maria Sanchez, Monica Arias, Nadia Lopez, Nayeli Fuentes, Patricia Molina, and Taylor Fruidenberg competing for the top honor. The girls are being coached by the town's Mayor Sylvana Meeks, who is currently helping them with public speaking, entrance walking, dance, giving advice, and critique. The participants began preparation on Aug. 17 and meet every Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
