Friends-in-Sight, the statewide Lions vision initiative, will be holding a free vision screening, Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Desert Mirage High School, 86-150 Avenue 66 in Thermal. The vision screening will start at about 8:00 a.m. and finish at about 3:30 p.m. Members of several CV Lions Clubs will be helping the 300-400 prospective patients.

New and recycled eyeglasses will be provided to folks in need on a first-come, first-serve basis and at NO COST. VSP certificates (gift certificates redeemable for one free eye exam and one free pair of glasses per individual) and assistance from Zenni Optical will also be available. While there may be some waiting involved, the price is assuredly right!

Please, if you or any one you know needs vision care, this is one of the very best opportunities you may have this year. Come and check it out – might just be the most productive Saturday you’ll spend in a while. See you there!

One more thing. A very special thank you to all those who labor on our behalf. Our country is strong and resilient due, in large part, to the incredibly hard work of the remarkable people who keep us safe at home and abroad, care for and nurture us, feed and clothe us, build our homes and schools and vehicles, construct our highways, byways and bridges, clean our cities, towns and streets, assist us with learning and comprehending, maybe, if we’re lucky, help us understand, on new and meaningful levels, how good it is to be a citizen of the United States. Happy Labor Day.
