A black pipe containing half a pound of methamphetamine forced the closure of I-10 on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. A California Department of Transportation Employee called the California Highway Patrol at 9:40 a.m. regarding a suspicious object on the road at a maintenance project. The pipe, which was closed at both ends, was neutralized by a robot after the Riverside County Sheriff Department’s Hazardous Device Team was notified that the object was suspicious. Westbound side was closed for 10 minutes, while eastbound was closed for 30 minutes. The CHP will process and destroy the meth-filled pipe.
