Oh, those Lions!

Yep, it’s true – the Lions are at it again, helping the community. Working closely with the leadership of West Shores High School, the West Shores Lions Club has secured walking privileges for community members at the high school’s wonderful new walking path.
The four-foot wide, concrete path is level, has no cracks or pebbles or divots, and it circumvents the entire grassy field. The public is welcome to walk, weekday mornings from 5:00 until about 7:00 a.m., when it is cooler and there are even slight pre-dawn breezes. Nice. The agreement with the school is that walkers remain responsible for their own trash (should they have any) and generally look after things as they perambulate. Pretty good deal. If you have questions, please call Lions President Fred Guibault at 760-673-8493.
VSP Vision Certificates
West Shores Lions Club is offering free gift certificates that provide each holder with one free eye examination and a free pair of prescription glasses. Small, standard pre-qualifications are necessary. There are doctors who accept the certificates both in the El Centro area and in Indio. Current adult certificates are valid through July 25, 2015; current certificates for children are valid through the end of October, 2015. Eyesight is a priceless gift -- please let the Lions help you preserve yours if we can. Questions? Call me, Paddie Connelly, at 760-394-4515.
Free summer feeding program
West Shores High School is offering the free summer feeding program again this year…it is open to any child between infant to 18 years and there are no qualifying criteria. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 8:30 AM, weekdays; lunch is served from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. weekends. No need to go hungry, guys. We urge you to take part in this valuable resource.
And, finally, from the High School: “FIND Farm Market is coming to WSHS for the summer. Food distribution will occur for the next six weeks (through August 7) on Fridays from 7:30-8:45 a.m. Bring your own bags, please.”
