Three of the ‘Ladies Who Lunch’ met at the Rams Hill Yacht Club at noon on the 4th of July. Of course the views were absolutely fantastic – can’t change that. But the atmosphere was very festive. Red, white, and blue napkins. Red, silver and blue stars and other little patriotic decorations on every table. Such a surprise, and such fun!
The big surprise was an eagle carved by chef Kurt Hauser out of a 300 pound block of ice. Spectacular!
As usual, the food was delicious. We really focused on our desserts and found them beyond compare.
The flourless chocolate cake may be the best thing I’ve ever eaten, and I’m not a great sweet fan. Caramel cake to write home about. We’ll be very glad when this wonderful place reopens in the fall.
Lunch at cool, dark Carlee’s is a summer treat. My son adores their cheeseburgers. Best French fries anywhere! I like the fried shrimp, and had forgotten about those tangy, tasty Asian ribs.
There is a salmon and fruit salad on the new menu that we might try next time – a perfect hot weather treat. Of course, I love Tony’s martinis. But this time he wasn’t there, and owner Andy Macuga interrupted his own lunch to shake up a yummy, icy one for me. How’s that for service? Open everyday all summer from 11:00 a.m.. Goody.
If you want a delicious, nutritious, moist muffin – Calico’s.
