Salton Sea - $505,000 Drug Bust

More than $505,000 of methamphetamine has been seized by Border Patrol agents after a 24 year old man attempted to pass through the Highway 86 checkpoint near the Salton Sea Thursday July. 16.

Drug-sniffing dogs alerted agents to the 2013 Dodge Avenger, where agents located 34 packages of methamphetamine weighing more than 50 pounds, hidden in the panels of the vehicle.

The driver, a Mexican citizen and lawful permanent resident of the U.S., the car and the drugs have been turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
