Fire Near Lake Henshaw - Update

A wildland fire near Lake Henshaw is already 50 percent contained as of 5:00 p.m. Rural and Valley Center Deputies assisted and numerous Fire Department vehicles responded and fought the fire. Planes and helicopters were used for water drops and CHP and CALTRANS closed Hwy. 76. No one was evacuated except for a kennel business housing 70 dogs. The 25 acres of fire were primarily on the Mesa Grande Indian Reservation. A mobile home and two out-buildings were totally destroyed and another building was a 50 percent loss. Bomb/Arson was requested by the Fire Department and responded. There have been on injuries involved.
