Summer Swim- Lifeguards on Duty
Last updated 7/23/2015 at 3:05pm
A Summer Swim Program has been available to the youth, community of Borrego, and visitors each summer for many years- thanks to a generous donation from Audrey Burnand. According to swim instructor Cathy Paredes, every summer potential lifeguards participate in a rigorous 40-hour lifeguard/first aid and CPR course and all that pass the class are certified and well-trained lifeguards. The pool is open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. for swimming lessons and fitness swim. Swimming lessons are available to everyone from infant to adult. Three 8-day sessions are offered throughout the summer. The pool is open Tuesday through Sunday from 2:30 - 7:30 p.m. for open swim and closed on Mondays. Two lifeguards and a supervisor are on duty whenever the pool is open. A group of 25 - 30 Summer Program students are transported to the pool in the afternoons (after lunch at the library, reading time and other programs.) Tuesday through Friday the students swim for approximately two hours before returning home.
