A 19-month-old Salton City girl is undergoing chemotherapy and the family needs monetary help.

Young Emy Duran was born diagnosed with Downs Syndrome, and just two weeks ago was further diagnosed to have Leukemia.

The family has reached out to local groups including Red Earth Casino and the Rotarians asking for support while Emy fights her battle. The Salton Sea Fire Department will stage a rib plate dinner ($5 plate) and a raffle will take place at Johnson's Landing on July 11 at 7:00 p.m. to help raise money for the family's medical obligations.

"You can't help but fall in love with her when she smiles, she lights up the room when you see her, she's got such a big heart," said her uncle, Steven Osuna. "Please help her though these very hard times and pray she stays strong while on chemotherapy," he pleads.

The raffle tickets are $10 each and the prizes to be given away include: a 46" Insignia ICD TV, a pair of Ashely design lamps, a Coby undercounter CD/AM/FM player and a Yoshi Blade.

Tickets can be purchased through Martha Deichler at the Rotary, some are available at the Borrego Sun office, or attend the July 11 event at Johnson's Landing.
