Trashy Treasures is a unique Indian owned and operated thrift store along Hwy 79, just inside the Santa Ysabel Reservation. Owner Veronica Cleland started the business about seven months ago and Trashy Treasures is already the happening place along this stretch of country highway. After a series of successful garage sales, Veronica realized she had a knack for finding, collecting and offering needed and wanted items to people as an economic option to making the long drive towards town. Locals and passers-by from Sunshine Summit to San Diego, appreciate the good deals, relaxing atmosphere and friendly service. "If we don't have what you want," Cleland said, "we'll find it for you." She actually takes orders and if you can't pick it up, she delivers. This is the first mom and pop type business on the reservation, and already has a popular following. Over the 4th of July weekend Trashy Treasures had a special event with hamburgers, spectacular sales and a raffle with the grand prize of a three-day weekend stay at La Jolla Indian Campground. A "Christmas in July," with all things pertaining to Christmas will be featured throughout the month. The first weekend of each month always offers great deals. The thrift store is open for business Wednesday and Thursday from 8-4 p.m. and Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8-6.
