Inmate Escapes Near Julian

Officials from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation are presently searching for inmate Jesse Lozano, who walked away from the La Cima Conservation Camp, near Julian, yesterday. Lozano was discovered missing by La Cima Conservation Camp staff at approximately 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 15. Camp staff searched the inmate dormitories, surrounding buildings and the camp perimeter after discovering the inmate was missing. Local law enforcement agencies are assisting in the search for Lozano who is described as a 6’ 1”, 275 pound, 41 year-old Hispanic male with a mustache and goatee. He was last seen wearing orange CDCR inmate clothing. Lozano was committed to S.D. County Jail for possession for sale of a controlled substance with related enhancements for 8 years. Statistics show that of all offenders who have escaped from an adult institution, camp or community-based program since 1977, 98.7 percent have been apprehended.
