The award-winning ultracyclist, Dave Haase cycled through Borrego late yesterday afternoon. The Fond du Lac native is currently tackling the challenging Race Across America (RAAM), perceived as the world's toughest endurance bike race.

Stretching 3,000 miles from Oceanside, CA. to Annapolis, MD. Haase has said about the course "It's harder than anything to do, and I like that challenge".

Having started the race at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 16 in Oceanside, CA. he is aiming to ride the first 36 hours straight before stopping to sleep for two hours, after which, he will continue the race in intervals of 22 hours cycling and 2 hours sleeping. Currently sitting in second place, if he maintains the pace he set at the beginning, he is looking at finishing the formidable 3,000-mile race to Annapolis, MD. in nine days.
