District 7 of the California State Old Time Fiddlers Association presented the 2015 Julian Fiddle & Pickin' Contest on Saturday, May 30 at the Julian Town Hall. This contest is the outgrowth of a decades-long tradition formerly called the 'Julian Banjo and Fiddle Contest.' The event provides fiddlers, guitarists, mandolin and banjo players an opportunity to express their skills for appreciative audiences, while also allowing them to compete for prizes in age groups from pee-wee to adult. A few of the many highlights of the day were Ken Wright, a Julian local and returning champion, who played 'My Three Treasures,' and Tom Dillon, District 7 president, who played 'Banish Misfortune.'
