My prayers have been answered. My dreams have come true. Kurt Hauser, now chef at the Rams Hill Yacht Club, has brought a semi-Japanese restaurant to Borrego Springs. The restaurant is now so exciting. It has the most lovely view in town – even when there is a dust storm. The decks have been redone with stunning new furniture, fans, and misters. There are some gorgeous, comfy over-stuffed lounges. You can relax there and enjoy one of the excellent martinis made by ‘Dan The Man.’

But hurry – they will close on July 7 and reopen in October. They are closed Monday and Tuesday, open Wednesday and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday until 9:00 p.m.

Ahhh, but the menu! There is ahi poke (my favorite), Rams Hill roll with ahi, hamachi sashimi, and a sushi roll of the day. Yes, ginger and wasabi on your plate! There is fresh fish every week, and sometimes fresh, raw oysters. My companion has really enjoyed the shrimp Louie and roast Scottish salmon. A 12 ounce order of perfect prime rib is always available.

Of course there are also delicious salads and sandwiches and wings. Soup, steaks, chicken, and shrimp with linguini are all memorable choices. In the dessert department the flourless chocolate cake and salted caramel cheesecake are simply divine.

I will certainly go back twice before they close and then eagerly await the reopening in October. What a joy! And the service, as you might predict, is excellent. Thanks, Bill.
