The Julian 4th of July Committee and the Julian Chamber of Commerce hosted a 'Dos de Mayo' dinner and dance on May 2, at the Julian Town Hall, The dinner was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. downstairs and the dance, upstairs from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.
A full house of hungry supporters attended the dinner. The Julian Boy Scout Troop 690 helped out with soft drinks and lemonade, and bussing tables, etc.
Also helping out for the dinner and the festivities upstairs were eight members of AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC). This group does community service work all over the USA. All members are volunteers 18- to 24-years-old, who sign up for ten months of service. This was a fun, energetic group of helpers, both for the dinner and the festivities upstairs later. Upstairs after dinner attendees participated in drawings, line dance lessons, a 50/50 drawing, a photo booth, and ballroom dancing. Music was provided by DJ Dave Klumph of Julian. The turn out was well supported, and enjoyed by all that attended.
