Beer Insprired by Conservation and Desert Landscapes

The Anza-Borrego Foundation (ABF) will be collaborating with Nickel Beer Company to create a beer inspired by the spirit of conservation and a love for the desert landscapes of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park (ABDSP). The Foundation's Hikes & Hops and Bikes & Brews programs have become very popular, and this new project is another way to involve participants who like to enjoy the outdoor desert park and then relax with a cold craft beer afterward. The new idea started brewing while ABF Executive Director Paige Rogowski and Nickel Beer Co. Owner Tom Nickel were having a cold one while discussing ways to raise funds to further protect the landscapes of ABDSP. There are three ways to get involved in this new adventure. The top level of participation costs $500 per person or $900 per couple. For this, you have an opportunity to name the beer, decide the variety, experience the initial brewing procedure with Tom Nickel on June 7, obtain two growlers of the finished beer, a commemorative pint glass and an invitation to the VIP Tapping Party on June 27. This level is limited to two people. The second level is set at $250 per person and includes an all-day opportunity to experience the initial brewing procedure, a growler of the finished beer, a commemorative pint glass and an invitation to the VIP Tapping Party on June 27 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. This level is limited to six people. The third level is an invitation to the VIP Tapping Party - the public unveiling of the Anza-Borrego Brew. Cost is $35 per person and includes two pints of any Nickel Beer, a commemorative pint glass and a beer and appetizer party at Nickel Beer on June 27 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. For more information check the website at http://www.theABF.org/ABbrew, or call 760-767-0446 ext. 1003.
