The Borrego Water District would like to warn the community that someone representing themselves as being from the BWD has called a home owner to try to gain access to the inside of their home. The caller wasn't from the Water District. There are legitimate reasons the Water District might request access to a person's property but rarely do they ask for access to the interior of a home. In any case, District employees wear uniforms with their names and a Borrego Water District logo. If you receive a call like this, ask for the name of the person, a call-back number and their exact purpose. After this you should call the Water District to determine if it's a scam or a legitimate request (760 767-5806). If you're away and have someone looking after your house or property, you might want to inform them about this possible new scam as well.
